Love causes us to do some remarkable things. For the sake of love we will give our last cent. We will dwell on the picture of someone as if that picture could fill our hearts. We will work like we have never worked for an employer. We will give our last breath.
Yet, our love is imperfect. It is not totally unconditional. It is limited if it only exists within our own power. Thus, we can have great friends which we would call closer than brothers yet, not call them for months. We can close out those whom we said we would love with our last dying breath. We can get divorced from those whom we said we would live forever. Our love is tainted with selfishness.
Such is not the case of God's love. His love is unconditional. His love is everlasting. His love causes Him to keep you on His mind.
Think of it: He knows and thinks of the birds of the air all the time. Yes, birds! He cares for them continually and makes a point of saying that you are immeasurably more important than they. It is a profound reality to know that God is always thinking of you.
I suppose that may scare you. You may have thought that you were on your own today. You may have thought that no one was watching but you already know better. God was watching you as you slept. He watched you wake up, stumble to the bathroom, clean up and get dressed. He was with you as you walked, rode and drove to your first destination of the day. He is with you now.
You are not a casual thought to Him. He doesn't respond with, "O yeah, I know her." He can honestly say, "I am thinking of her right now." His thoughts allow Him to know all there is about you. He knows your every need, your every struggle and your every joy.
He was there when you committed that sin for which you can't seem to forgive yourself. He had already taken care of the forgiveness through His Son but for some reason you won't accept it. He knows and continually works around and within you to get you see that you are forgiven.
He was there when that person did evil to you. He wept when you were hurt. He wants you to know that you are not alone. He wants you to know that He is a God of justice too.
He was there when you did that act of kindness. He wants you to know that it will never be forgotten because He will always remember it.
And He will always be there. No matter what you do. No matter what happens, whether good or bad, God is there. You are always on His mind.
Luke 12:6-7 (NIV)
6 Are not five sparrows sold for two pennies? Yet not one of them is forgotten by God. 7 Indeed, the very hairs of your head are all numbered. Don't be afraid; you are worth more than many sparrows.
