John 10:10 (NASB 2020)10 The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy; I came so that they would have life, and have it abundantly.
Are there Christians who are living less than an abundant life? I think we can easily say, yes. There are Christians living life just like the world. They worry and chase after the things that the world chases. They try to fill themselves with these things. They have moments of happiness but they are truly never satisfied. There is always something to chase.
Why don't we leave them alone if this is the life that they choose? Actually, I think we have. They come to church infrequently. We hardly know who they are. It's funny, but they are the people who will say the church let them down when it was they who abandoned the church. What did they expect? Or is this just an excuse for living the life they have chosen?
We Christians can live our lives as if we do not know Christ. We can choose to claim we are saved while living a hedonistic lifestyle. We can choose to live our lives like the spiritually homeless. We can choose to live less than the abundant life.
Maybe that's the way the physically homeless look at it. (I am speaking of those who choose to be homeless.) They see our working lives as lives of slavery. We see it as a life of freedom. They can do what they want all day even if it amounts to nothing. We must produce something to keep the life we have.
The truth is that the Christians who live as if they don't know Christ will get to go to the same heaven as those who live a life for Christ. They just won't have any rewards there. I suppose heaven without rewards is still much greater than hell but it doesn't need to be that way. They could have an abundant life now and one with rewards later.
They just don't know what they are missing. Or should I say, they don't have any experience that reveals what they are missing now.
Choose an abundant life. Sure it has its challenges too. But they are worth it.
